A National Tragedy
Refused to Be Ignored
In the year of 1998, a generous group of compassionate educators witnessed a mega troubling pattern that was quietly unfolding across their Pakistani communities. Brilliant students — young minds filled with ambition, potential, and promise — were being forced to abandon their education.
Not because they lacked ability. Not because they lacked passion. But simply because they lacked money. Talented boys and girls, some of whom could have been future scientists, leaders, artists, and innovators, found themselves standing at the crossroads of despair.
Financial hurdles became insurmountable walls, blocking their paths to universities and professional careers. To the founders of Alfalah Scholarship, this was more than just an unfortunate situation. It was a national tragedy — a waste of priceless human potential.
They understood something deeply: every Lost Student was a Lost Opportunity for the Nation. Every dream deferred weakened not just the individual, but the collective future of the entire country. And so, with courage in their hearts and a deep sense of duty, these educators came together, pooled their ideas, energies, and modest resources — and Alfalah Scholarship was born.
Since 1998, Alfalah Scholarship Scheme has empowered 5,735 scholars to complete their education and transition into successful professional careers.
"They refused to sit back and watch another generation of dreamers fade into obscurity — an organisation dedicated to hunting talent among the needy and empowering them to soar."
— Founding Mandate, Alfalah Scholarship Scheme, 1998
Compassionate educators pooled resources to create an organisation dedicated to identifying and empowering talented, needy students across Pakistan.
Scholarships extended to cover six programme levels — from Intermediate through to Medical and Engineering — with monthly disbursements reaching ₨10,000.
Over ₨650 million disbursed. 896 Doctors. 482 Engineers. 1,377 Post-Graduates. A living legacy of transformed lives across Pakistan.
